Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Technical Requirements Required/Essential Skills:

·       Knowledge on latest version of Power BI and/or Tableau dash-board from design and development perspective using MS BI technology (SQL Server 2016)

·       Substantial technology experience of more than 4 years on BI&DW (Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse)

·       Should have experience in consuming and transforming data, modelling and visualizing using desktop application

·       An understanding of the range of "Visualisations" that are available and how they add value to the business when displaying data

·       Should be able to set-up required dashboard level security – Implementing and configuring proper security procedures, in conjunction with stakeholder requirements, to ensure the safekeeping of all Power BI assets and their data

·       Should be able to configure, publish reports/workbooks and dashboards using Service/Server

·       Should have strong knowledge T-SQL (SQL Server) and DAX (Data Analysis Expression) considering Power BI and Tabular cube models

·       Should have experience in SQL SERVER 2016 or few versions below this

·       Worked on performance optimization from dashboard tools, SQL Server 2016 (database) perspective

·       Proficient with Data Warehouse concepts having Dimensional Modelling Experience

·       Experience in MS BI Tools – SSRS, SSAS and SSIS (knowledge on SSDT – SQL Server Data Tools IDE will be an advantage)


Desired MSBI Skills –

·       Microsoft BI tool set certifications

·       Trouble shooting knowledge in BI applications from development support perspective


Other Microsoft technology skills –

·       Having basic knowledge of Power shell scripting will be a big advantage

·       Additional Requirements

·       Visual Studio 2015 and above, Experience with configuration and design tools such as Team Foundation Server (TFS), Visio etc

·

·       Candidate should have very strong communication skills being required for this role. Must be capable of interacting with solution architects, business users and other technology teams

Role Description

Senior Developer is the key contributor for Microsoft BI team who facilitates code productivity and quality using technology knowledge, problem solving skills and innovative ideas. Senior Developer is responsible for producing the code that adheres to coding standards and continuously improved to deliver desire business requirements with high level of quality.

·       This role demands someone with high analytical ability and who is highly committed and motivated. The person should have good communication skills, excellent at removing impediments and breaking down complex tasks into simple easy to complete milestones, willing to jump in and solve the problem.

 

Key Accountabilities

How you will influence:

·       Solve complex business problems using technical knowledge

·       Deliver the application feature using shortest possible lead time

·       Improve the overall code base of the applications by ensuring compliance to coding standards and guidelines

·       You will be primarily playing the role of Data Analyst enabling businesses to maximize the value of data assets through visualization and reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI

·      

What you will be doing:

·       Position Objectives and Expectations

·       Candidate must have dashboarding and analytics skills that relate to one or more of the followings:

·       Should have strong understanding of dashboard development cycle i.e. data discovery, data  modeling, data visualization, and distribution of reports/dashboards

·       Creating customized and interactive dashboards using Power BI and/or Tableau using relational  and/or SSAS Tabular, multi-dimensional data sources

·       Responsible for profiling, cleaning, and transforming data. Designing and building scalable and  effective data models. Implementing the advanced analytics capabilities into reports for analysis

·       Responsible for the management of Power BI assets, including reports, dashboards, workspaces, and  the underlying datasets that are used in the reports

·       Work with data engineering team to determine and locate appropriate data sources that meet  stakeholder requirements, identify new processes or improve existing processes for collecting data for  analysis

·       Preference will be given for having practical experience of both the above dashboard tools (Power BI  and Tableau). While knowledge of Power BI dashboards is a mandatory skill set

·       Knowledge on Power BI and/or Tableau Server administration/support

·       Creating database objects using SQL Server 2016 database (T-SQL) and work on Performance  optimization

·       Involve in design elements (semantic layer) from warehouse application perspective

·       In addition to dashboard skill set, candidates having knowledge on standard MSBI stack (SSRS, SSIS,  SSAS) using SQL Server Data tools as an IDE (SQL Server 2016) will be a plus for this position

·       Technical Documentation (Low Level Design, Technical specification/approach, PoC/Spikes) and  scripted unit testing

·       Performing peer reviews

·       Experience of working in Agile Methodologies from development process perspective will be an advantage
