As an associate in our Projects / Real Estate team you will be working on complex transactions for some of the most innovative clients who are frontrunners in their fields. The team has been advising key players of the sector (both sponsors and financiers), whether local or international, and has an impressive track record for its transactional advice in renewable energy (offshore wind, onshore wind, solar, nuclear, district heating, hydro) and related "smart energy" solutions, infrastructure and real estate. The team (combining Dutch and English law capabilities) is based in Amsterdam, but our practice and our client base have a strong international character.

Our Projects / Real Estate team is a fast-growing group of enthusiastic lawyers with diverse backgrounds. We have an approachable and close collaborative nature where ambition and innovation go hand in hand with lots of fun and close-knit teamwork.

 

We have a global outlook, coupled with experience in a variety of work in multiple jurisdictions. You will be working with a broad range of clients and the firm's other teams and practice areas, not only in Amsterdam, but across the globe, resulting in many opportunities for growth and development.

 

What will you be responsible for?

 

In the context of the continuous development of our activities, we are looking for an associate with experience and/or interest in one or more of the following fields:

  • commercial contracting, including construction contracts, power purchase agreements, service level agreements, sale and purchase agreements and/or;
  • regulatory expertise, e.g., energy regulatory, environmental law, planning and zoning law, procurement law; in the fields of Energy, Infrastructure and/or Real Estate.

 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • You will provide legal and commercial expertise predominantly on project finance and real estate transactions as well as advisory work, across a wide range of sectors including renewable energy, industrial sites, real estate (residential, hotel, logistics, office space, healthcare assets, industrials and data centres).
  • You will be developing relationships with clients and actively engaging in business development and thought leadership initiatives and seeking out opportunities for new work as you grow not only your legal but also entrepreneurial skill set.
  • You will be drafting complex legal documents clearly and concisely, creating solutions using legal knowledge and commercial judgement to advise and support leading multi-national clients.

Who are you?

 

You are a team player with a solid legal background and are enthusiastic to develop yourself in the Projects / Real Estate field (experience in Projects / Real Estate law is beneficial but not required). Further, you have the ambition to work on a variety of transactions. You are passionate about keeping up with the latest trends and decisions in Projects / Real Estate and have natural intellectual curiosity: you are eager to enter undiscovered fields and to develop something new.

 

In addition, you are proactive, resourceful, and not afraid to take initiative. You are able to see the bigger picture and to think outside of the box, in order to create bespoke solutions which meet our clients' business objectives. Further, you can demonstrate an appetite for business development, client relationship management, good communication and negation skills, and thought leadership.

 

Key requirements are:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in one or more of the areas of expertise mentioned above;
  • Fluency in English;
  • A Dutch law qualification is required.
