In our Paris office, approximately 220 lawyers work on all types of complex, innovative matters, each one needing specialist understanding of the specific context of the relevant market.

The Derivatives team in Paris forms part of the Structured Finance team whose role is to identify, structure and deliver robust financial solutions perfectly adapted to our clients' needs.

The derivative products covered by the team include hedging of project finance, securitisation or covered bonds, equity derivatives, credit derivatives,  the issuance of equity-linked, credit-linked and fund-linked notes under structured note/warrant programmes or via re-packaging vehicles,  derivative clearing, EMIR and Dodd Frank compliance issues,  pre-contentious and contentious work  and netting opinions for trade associations and others.

The client base is varied and includes French and international banking institutions, industry-wide trade associations, derivative clearing houses, private equity funds, asset managers, sponsors and corporates.

The Derivatives team is well-known in the market for its ability to offer French and English law derivatives advice locally on a wide range of products. The team operates on a highly integrated basis with the regulatory, banking and structured finance practices in Paris and with the Firm's international derivatives practice. The team is engaged in a wide range of work and generates its own transactions as well as hedging support for the projects, banking and capital markets teams. The team works on derivatives governed by both French and English law including all forms of master contract regularly used in the markets.

Skills and Qualification

·         You will have a minimum of 1 to 3 years experience in a derivatives practice within a leading law firm or bank and be qualified in France or England & Wales. An experience of one or more of regulatory, structured finance and/or capital markets work would be an advantage.

·         A willingness to write articles and participate in marketing initiatives is welcomed.

·         You will have a strong academic background. A specialized Master's degree (LL.M) in Structured Finance/Derivatives or international commercial law, or a business management degree (HEC, ESCP, IEP, ESSEC, etc.), would be an asset.

·         You will possess excellent drafting skills. Proficiency in English is a must for any non-native English speaker. Any additional languages skills would be considered as an asset.

·         You will be well-organised and commercial in your approach. Dynamism, team spirit and communication skills are required qualities in order to progress in a stimulating environment.
