SUMMARY: Report to the regional Infrastructure Manager, the Network Engineer is seen as a technical analyst in computer network technologies.  As part of the global engineering team, the Network Engineer will work under the guidance of the senior members of the global engineering team. This is a technical and hands on role, with primary focus on design and implementation of network solution and configuration changes. Support the operations teams with troubleshooting of complex issues. Work in high impact, mission critical environments where service matters and exceeding expectations is the norm.   
DESCRIPTION:  Ensure defined standards are followed in Networks, manage the technical lifecycle of products and services and deliver change/transformation against created designs; always ensuring a smooth transition/handover to Network Operations. Provide support to operational teams to resolve escalated issues.
Responsible for designing, implementing and supporting include, but not limited to: office LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, Load Balancing and Data Centre network infrastructures.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation of regional network infrastructure.
  • Maintain an inventory of regional network hardware and software along with valid maintenance agreements.
  • Provide operational support to regional and remote IT teams in resolving complex network issues.
  • Adhere to and comply with all internal governance, process and procedure.
  • Identify and maintain a domain specific service improvement plan. Prioritize and progress service improvements in the region.
  • Act as regional representative within the global engineering team.
  • Contribute to global engineering and operational requests.
  • Create, update and maintain knowledge base articles of known network issue along with resolution steps.
  • Support the Network Engineering team with investment planning, roadmap creation and delivery.
  • Perform engineering and operational support technical research and documentation.
  • Produce technical documentation to articulate the business and technical benefits of the solutions being proposed.
  • Produce accurate bills of materials to support the technical designs including hardware, software and licensing.
  • Incident Management – 4th level support to Network Operations team for all complex or critical priority incidents.
  • Problem Management – support the Network Operations team with root cause analysis of high profile or long-standing problem management activities.
  • Change Management – Must follow internal change management processes; have adequate planning, preparation and peer review and meet required OLA's. Articulate technical details of the change requests in layman's terms to the regional management to assist with change approval and business communications.
  • Hold knowledge sharing sessions with regional Infrastructure and 2nd line teams.
  • Monitor and resolve incident and request tickets within the defined OLA guidelines.
  • Maintain vendor relationship with regional telecommunication network suppliers and product manufacturer/resellers.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of hands on experience within a large/global organization in an engineering and operational support capacity.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and building sustainable and scalable solutions, ideally within legal or investment banking.
  • Strong background in Layer 2, Layer 3 & Layer 4-7 routing, switching and application switching technologies.
  • Good understanding of ITIL framework; Certification is a plus.
  • Attention to detail along with willingness to help customers and colleagues.
  • Familiarity with a variety of testing tools, networking technologies and techniques to accurately troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems associated with the service, application and network hardware and software.
  • Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States.

  • Cisco Routing & Switching (IOS, ASR, ISR and Nexus)
  • Cisco Wireless LAN Controller & Access Points
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
  • WAN Optimization (Riverbed)
  • F5 GTM and LTM load balancers (BIG-IP/Viprion)
  • Packet Capture and Netflow
  • BGP and OSPF routing
  • Policy maps for routing
  • MPLS, DMVPN, IPSec VPN, TACACS authentication
  • VLAN, Spanning Tree, L3 interfaces, HSRP, EIGRP, TCP/IP
  • QoS (Quality of Service), ACL (Access Control Lists)
  • Network Monitoring & Alerting (SolarWinds/Eye of the Storm)
    Certification or demonstrable experience in the following:
  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Cisco CCNA/NP in Routing & Switching accreditation
  • Knowledge of ITILv3 foundation or higher
    It would be advantageous and desirable to have the following:
  • Systems management knowledge of Windows OS, Linux/Unix would be an advantage.
  • Able to identify tasks and manage them effectively to completion with minimal supervision.

  • Good organizational skills with ability to operate under pressure, working to tight deadlines; handle complex investigations to root cause analysis.
