With around 120 lawyers and 12 Partners, the key areas of expertise of the Clifford Chance Luxembourg office include: Banking, Finance and  Capital Markets, Corporate, Investment Funds, Tax, Litigation and Real Estate.

 
Our Investment Funds practice is a market leading practice covering the full range of funds, including all kinds or alternative funds (such as private equity funds, hedge funds, real estate, debt and infrastructure funds) as well as UCITS.

In addition, we also advise investors with their investments in such funds, including pension funds, insurance companies, funds‑of‑funds and many sovereign wealth and other supra-national institutions.

 

Our team is composed of 4 Partners and about 40 lawyers from diverse backgrounds and nationalities. Working languages are French, English and German.

 

In order to reinforce the team, we are recruiting a:

 

Investment Funds Lawyer - Regulatory (M/F)

Contract: permanent contract (CDI)                                     
Hours: 40 hours per week

 

What will you do?

As a member of our Investment Funds department, you will be involved in a wide range of projects, advising and assisting clients on a variety of regulatory issues. This will include:

 

  • Advising investment funds and asset managers on both AIFMD and UCITS structures (including ETFs) as well as on other regulatory issues associated with e.g. AML, Brexit, MiFID, derivatives, securities lending, markets abuse regulations and Fintech regulations;.
  • Advising clients on the impact of the ESG/Sustainable finance initiatives;
  • Working in close collaboration with our regulatory specialists in other areas and offices around the globe (e.g. London, Frankfurt, Paris, New York and Hong Kong);
  • Providing general advice and bespoke trainings to our clients on upcoming regulatory reforms;
  • Advising clients on the marketing/distribution of their financial products in the EU/EEA – and globally;
  • Working on the regulatory part of the most prestigious M&A transactions in the global asset management industry  - together with our global team of specialists;
  • Helping clients together with our litigators to defend their rights out-of-court or in court;
  • Being involved in BD and training initiatives of the global firm (e.g. client briefings, newsletters, conferences/webinars) as well as being involved in external industry associations (AIMA, ALFI, EFAMA, etc.).

 

Our team is regularly acting for global asset managers and banks on regulatory topics.

We also advise local market participants and start-ups.

What do you need to succeed?

 

 

Experience

  • 3-6 years' experience in alternative funds and UCITS ideally gained within an international and large law firm
  • Experience in financial laws and regulation, with particular focus on investment funds and asset managers

 

Qualification

  • You are ideally admitted to the 'Liste I', the 'Liste II' or the 'Liste IV'

 

Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of Luxembourg Investment Fund structures (UCITS, SIFs, RAIFs, SICARs, unregulated funds)
  • You have excellent regulatory, custodian/depositary and investment funds and asset management knowledge

 

 

Languages

  • Fluency in English, French and/or German

 

Soft Skills

  • Dynamism, team spirit and communication skills are required qualities to progress in our stimulating environment
  • Willingness to provide high service delivery for our clients
  • Collaborative spirit and eagerness to work with colleagues from different levels within the firm, as well as to guide/train junior colleagues
