LUX-HR Generalist - Operations & Projects

Clifford Chance, one of the world's leading law firms, is seeking an experienced HR generalist to join our Luxembourg office. With 12 partners, around 120 lawyers and 60 business professionals, our office is a top-tier player in the Luxembourg legal services market. 

The HR function has for objective to support the rapid growth of the Luxembourg office, by providing a wide range of HR services. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and fast-paced department committed to delivering excellent services.


Reporting to the head of HR, the HR Generalist will support the HR department on a wide range of activities and transversal projects, notably in the fields of HR operations, process optimisation, HRIS, reporting and dashboards as well as legal qualification follow-up and continuing vocational training. The HR Generalist will foster the use of HRIS and will be accountable for the smooth running of HR operations. 

Having the chance to interact with numerous HR colleagues from the different offices of Clifford Chance across the globe, the successful candidate will also have the possibility to take part in global HR projects.

Contract: Permanent contract (CDI)            
Hours: 32 to 40H per week



HR Operations
•    Ensure the smooth running of HR Operations, including joiners and leavers, absence management and compensation & benefits
•    Optimize and document our HR administrative processes
•    Develop and implement various HR policies (teleworking, absence management, promotion process, etc.) 
•    Act as the go-to person within the HR team and for the staff for HR operations queries

HR Systems
•    Foster the use of Workday and lead the development of new functionalities to further automatize HR processes including monthly payroll, benefits management and absence management
•    Participate in global/regional HRIS projects in connection with global teams - act as the main point of contact for Workday development/enhancement projects
•    Together with our automation specialists, develop automatized templates for our main contractual documents (contracts, addendum, work certificates, etc.)
•    Ensure the best use possible of local and global technologies/ tools/systems
•    Adopt a continuous improvement approach towards all our activities and define KPI's to monitor our activity and efficiency levels

Continuous education
•    Manage and monitor continuous professional training, while optimizing the use of HR systems and automatizing the annual INPFC report.
•    Ensure all training courses are captured in our training platform and train users
•    Ensure the adequate follow-up of legal qualifications and bar obligations
•    Enhance reporting capabilities relating to training
•    With the help of the HR intern, supervise the organization of internal training courses

Project Management
•    Lead and/or actively participate in the development of various local and global projects to ensure the best use possible of existing resources and sharing of best practices.


Qualifications and Experience
•    A university degree in Human Resources, Business Management, Law or System Engineering or equivalent experience.
•    Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in a major law firm or a professional services firm.
•    Experience in project management, HRIS and process optimisation.

Technical Skills
•    Strong interest in HR Systems with an excellent knowledge of HRIS, a good command of Workday will be considered a strong asset.
•    Very strong command of the MS Office Suite. Advanced Knowledge of Excel is required.
•    Knowledge of Luxembourg Employment Law is an advantage.
•    An excellent command of English is required. French, German or Luxembourgish are considered an asset.

•    Resilience and ability to ensure long-term and continuous follow-up. 
•    A pro-active, forward-thinking, positive and collegial attitude are key for this role.
