Who will you work with? 


We have one of the world's leading litigation and dispute resolution practices specialising in complex, multi-jurisdictional litigation, international arbitration and regulatory investigations around the globe. Our team in Amsterdam is one of the country's leading litigation and dispute resolution teams and has overseen many of the most complex corporate cases and arbitrations in the market in recent years. The Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice group in Amsterdam focuses in particular on financial, commercial, corporate and administrative disputes. There is intensive collaboration with the other practice groups within the office and with the Litigation & Dispute Resolution teams of the other Clifford Chance offices worldwide.


What you will be responsible for

We are looking to hire a talented and ambitious Junior Litigation & Dispute Resolution Associate to join our leading L&DR practice.  Key responsibilities will include:

  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents to ensure clarity and consistency.
  • Create solutions using your legal knowledge, applying effective research techniques.
  • Challenge and test advice against legal compliance and risks.
  • Be proactive in expanding legal knowledge to ensure technical expertise is up to date.
  • Utilise client focus initiatives and monitor service levels of client needs.
  • Engage with Knowledge resources effectively and collaborate in Knowledge initiatives for the Firm.
  • Manage matters with a disciplined practice including timely timesheet submission and conflicts clearance processes.
  • Adoption of Best Delivery tools: e.g. templates, Legal Support Centre, Resource Management, Legal Project Management;
  • Opportunities to be involved in pitching for new work and business development.
  • The role is particularly interesting for an ambitious lawyer who would like to work at national and international top level within a close-knit and driven team. Your career experience so far

  • Approximately 3-6 years of experience as a lawyer in L&DR, eager to learn from our experienced L&DR lawyers and invest in his/her professional development.  
  • A strong academic background and a Dutch law qualification.
  • A Dutch academic title in civil law, possibly supplemented with (international) insolvency law specialist courses and/or (international) business economics courses.
  • Working knowledge of investment treaty arbitration as well as dealing with more general arbitration matters.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Excellent English language skills (oral and written).
  • Strong technical skills and be comfortable researching and applying complex areas of law.
  • Passion for the profession, pleasure in the specialism and the legal profession, as well as the ambition to belong to the top quality are important drivers.
