The HR Manager is currently responsible for managing the Human Resources function in Singapore including operational activities and projects across recruitment, performance management/development, and compensation as well as office wide initiatives.


You will have a proven track record of developing and implementing HR initiatives which have demonstrably contributed to achieving business objectives and enhanced overall business performance.


The APAC HR team is embarking on a period of transition and as such this role needs someone with a flexible approach, open mind and ideally transformation experience. 


Key Responsibilities


HR Business Partnering 
•    Act as a trusted business partner regarding all people related concerns as well as policy.  Represent the people side of issues in general management discussions.
•    Provide a sounding board for Partners and Business Professional leaders with regard to team and individual issues.
•    Proactively working with business leaders to manage talent, develop succession plans and align resources to business requirements. 


Team Leadership
•    Provide day-to-day guidance and leadership to the HR operations team (4).
•    Develop HR initiatives for the Singapore office in line with changing business priorities and industry best-practice standards (including maintaining external networks for industry best practice information). Liaise with other colleagues across the network to ensure, where appropriate, regional, and global consistency.
•    All HR activities/initiatives to be reviewed with the Regional Head of HR and Development.
•    Work with the accounts team to set and manage the HR budget.
•    Support and contribute to the office budgeting process for fee earnings teams as required.


Talent Acquisition 
•    Manage office resourcing and recruitment (legal and non-legal) including advising on structure and resourcing levels, and proactively recruiting to meet requirements.
•    Oversee the delivery of the Graduate Recruitment Program, as managed by the GR specialist, working with regional colleagues to develop and maintain a best-in-class program. 
•    Works with colleagues to identify solutions to address key people challenges in a timely manner, thus maintaining morale and retaining talent.  
•    Oversee secondment arrangements, approvals and paperwork.


Talent Management and Development 
•    Lead and guide performance management processes, providing advice to partners and managers on disciplinary matters and development plans.
•    Drive and oversee annual and mid-year appraisal processes including providing support as required (i.e. training).
•    Define and manage soft skills training schedule and advise employees on development as required.
•    Uses data to inform decision making and advise key stakeholders on the risks / opportunities in relation to people
•    Works with key stakeholders to drive the Inclusion objectives and action plans for individuals, and functional / practice areas.


Compensation and Benefits
•    Drive annual salary review and bonus approach.
•    Develop and maintain salary benchmarking tools and philosophies for both lawyers and business services.
•    Maintain benefits portfolio to ensure that the Singapore office remains competitive within the local market, and offers compensation and benefits that are aligned with the global CC benefits philosophy.
•    Oversee and manage payroll processes for the Singapore office.


Projects/Change Management
•    Implement global and regional HR initiatives. Considers the impact and interdependencies of projects, people and other functions and/or practice areas to either mitigate risk or leverage benefit.
•    Support projects and initiatives across the office as required including taking a lead role on some internal committees 


Employee Relations and Regulatory/Compliance
•    Advise on legal issues in regards to internal employment matters.
•    Ensure HR-related compliance is maintained (ie lawyer registrations, EPs etc).
•    Ensure that the operational infrastructure of the HR function is maintained and improved, including up to date. documented HR processes and procedures.
•    Anticipates likely ER issues with sensible likely predictions to identify early interventions.


Skills & Experience


•    At least seven years' experience working in a similar role in a professional services firm, with at least two at a management level, ideally running the HR function for an office.
•    Strong intellectual and analytical skills with the flexibility to manage detail as well as think conceptually and creatively
•    Team management experience.
•    Proven experience of setting the HR agenda and delivering on HR objectives.
•    Ideally experience of HR transformation and change.
•     Strong communications skills.  An ability to form good relationships at all levels across an organisation
•    Courage and resilience in persuading and influencing a diverse audience with differing views 
•    A global perspective and the ability to work in a diverse, cosmopolitan team. 
•    Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
