Based in Madrid and reporting directly to the HR Director, the HR Executive (Recruitment) will provide operational leadership, support and advice in the areas of recruitment and onboarding of legal and non-legal staff in the Spanish offices, as well as taking responsibility for recruitment marketing, principally in relation to graduates. 

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment operations
  • Act as the main point of contact for Spain within our international recruitment network led by the Global Head of Recruitment, and participate in regular conference calls and occasional in-person meetings used to maximise our recruitment efforts both globally and regionally within Continental Europe 

  • Provide lead support to the HR Director, Spain, in the implementation of the recruitment strategy for the Spanish offices, ensuring that, with the assistance of local HR Advisors and other stakeholder: 
  • we attract, select and retain candidates of the highest quality
  • we apply the most appropriate and up-to-date resourcing processes, techniques and tools available within the market
  • we align our recruitment activity fully with the applicable resourcing and headcount budget
  • we obtain any prior global or local recruitment authorisation required, creating for this purpose the necessary job requisition in our HR operational system, Workday 
  • we support our recruitment efforts with the appropriate metrics analysis to ensure that we are meeting targets
  • Coordinate all law graduate/student recruitment campaigns and selection and assessment activities on behalf of the Spanish offices for their different practice areas (i.e., specifically for entry level abogados, postgraduate Master de Acceso graduates, summer programme undergraduate students and, where appropriate, foreign students) 
  • Coordinate the lateral recruitment of lawyers with experience for the different practice areas of the Spanish offices, either directly or using the services of third-party suppliers (e.g., headhunters or recruitment agencies)
  • Coordinate the recruitment (temporary or permanent) of business support professionals for the Spanish offices, either directly or using the services of third-party suppliers (e.g., headhunters, recruitment or temporary staff agencies)
  • Prepare job descriptions, as required, and map any new position onto the relevant local lawyer or global business professionals career framework 
  • Use the firm's global online recruitment tool Taleo to progress candidates being recruited directly, carry out application screening and candidate ranking, process offer decisions and advise and support the relevant practice area partner or business professional line manager, as appropriate, throughout this process
  • In the case of law graduate/student recruitment campaigns, organise tests, conduct preliminary competency-based interviews, prepare candidate evaluations and make formal recommendations to practice areas.
  • Ensure that all contracts entered into with third parties (e.g., headhunters) comply with the firm's global procurement policy, negotiating terms appropriately in order to achieve the necessary outputs
Recruitment marketing
  • Ensure full local alignment with the firm's global recruitment marketing strategy, liaising for this purpose with the Global Head of Recruitment and the Global Recruitment Marketing & Employer Brand Specialist
  • Maintain and monitor our local recruitment marketing activities to ensure return on investment from events and brand marketing 
  • Ensure that we are fully up to date at all times with regard to the tools being used to market and recruit candidates, particularly in the area of social media e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram etc.
  • Liaise with universities in relation to our attendance at job fairs, the reservation of stands and other activities designed to deepen our mutual institutional relationship
  • Deliver presentations to law students and organise other related marketing events and activities
  • Create marketing material for graduate recruitment catalogues, liaising for this purpose with the Global Recruitment Marketing & Employer Brand Specialist 
  • Take responsibility for merchandising used at recruitment events or job fairs, ensuring that we remain in budget and that we are complying with global standards
  • Maintain the content of our Careers in Spain microsite, including the preparation of any new or updated material, as required, in line with global guidelines
  • Prepare any formal job advertisements required, both for publication in the firm's website and in relevant social networks/jobsites, and periodically review our positioning in these
Onboarding
  • In coordination with local HR Advisors, supervise the preparation of the requisite university training agreements (Convenios de Cooperación Educativa) and schedules in relation to the internships to be undertaken by Master de Acceso graduates, summer programme students and foreign students, ready for execution by the HR Director
  • In coordination with the local HR Advisors, supervise the preparation of formal internship and employment offer letters addressed to interns and prospective new employees of the firm for execution by the HR Director, and process all acceptances and rejections received, ensuring that all preconditions are met
  • In coordination with the local HR Advisors, ensure that all candidates are successfully passed through the firm's global pre-employment screening process managed via an external provider
  • In coordination with local HR Advisors, ensure employment contracts for new lawyers are prepared for signature by the HR Director and provide instructions in relation to the preparation of employment contracts for new business professionals staff
  • Maintain an up-to-date calendar of all internship start and finish dates and provide appropriate instructions to local HR Advisors in relation to the preparation of new joiner induction dates and courses
  • In coordination with the local HR Advisors, determine the format of the induction to be provided to new joiners locally as a complement to the global induction course provided online
  • In coordination with the local HR Advisors, ensure that tutors, career development mentors and/or buddies are assigned to new legal interns, lawyers and business professionals, as appropriate 
Skills, Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will:
  • Have at least three years' experience in a recruitment role involving candidate selection and assessment and recruitment marketing, if possible, gained within a law or other large professional services firm
  • Ideally hold a relevant university degree, perhaps in law, business or psychology, and possibly a postgraduate qualification in Human Resources
  • Have a good knowledge of current trends in recruitment marketing tools and the use of social media to support recruitment processes
  • Be completely fluent in both Spanish and English (a C1 or C2 level in English is required) 
  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the presence and impact necessary to influence listeners internally, at the partner or business professional line manager level, and to build rapport with, and to proactively market the firm externally to, prospective candidates
  • Be flexible, client-focused, and able to adopt a practical and common-sense approach to problem-solving, particularly when under pressure 
  • Have superior organisational skills, be detail and task oriented, capable of resolving conflicting priorities 
  • Have the ability to interact successfully with candidates and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders from different parts of the firm, both locally and globally, 
  • Be capable of thinking strategically and advising stakeholders in an informed and objective manner
  • Have strong skills in the use of the MS Office suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and be accustomed to working with recruitment and general HR operational applications or platforms (e.g., Taleo, Workday, LinkedIn etc.)
