Job Overview  


The Editorial and Content Executive Manager is a key member of the global Brand Communications and Marketing (BCM) team. The role holder will be the function's editor in chief and lead its content strategy, through alignment, leverage and curation of BCM internal and external content. This role will act as the primary a point of contact for editorial and content matters and provide advice, guidance and best practice to colleagues across the Firm on their written communications.



Who you will work with


You will work with:


  • The BCM global team including global and regional BCM team members  

  • Members of the BCM Global Editorial Board, Global Content and Editorial Communities, including KETL (Knowledge, Expertise and Thought Leadership team)

  • The Global Head of External Communications

  • The Global Head of Internal Communications 

  • Members of the Internal Communications Team (Intranet news and content)



What you will be responsible for    


Lead the development of BCM content and editorial strategy


  • Working with members of the BCM team and other Clifford Chance stakeholders to lead and embed our content and editorial strategies.

  • Ensure these strategies inform all published content across our internal and external channels

  • Work with members of the Global Editorial Board, Global Content and Editorial Communities, including KETL (Knowledge, Expertise and Thought Leadership team) to roll out the Content Strategy / ensure that content published via global and local channels aligns with this. 

  • Monitor channel data and develop data management to align content with our strategy and user interests.


Manage and develop the Clifford Chance internal Global News channel through:


  • Leadership of the Clifford Chance Internal News Editor Community. Using this community to manage content and news flow, achieve alignment with the firm's content strategy and messaging and supporting local regional news development.

  • Co-ordinating global news sourcing, development and publishing

  • Developing an aligned channel-specific strategy to increase readership/engagement with global news content.


Enhancing the user experience offered by global intranet pages 


  • Maintaining intranet pages currently owned, managed or maintained by the Brand Communication and Marketing team

  • Managing the Intranet home page configuration, along with the "Intranet Right Hand Side" digital real estate.


Integrating Enterprise-wide social media into our Clifford Chance internal channel mix


  • Support the 'reset' of our global internal social media channel, allowing us to ensure that all future content shared is informed by our new content strategy.

  • Use data insights to build engagement levels over time with enterprise-wide social media.


Supporting BCM crisis communication activity


  • Work with the Head of External Communications in managing and maintain the Crisis Comms plan for BCM

  • Work with the Crisis team to develop crisis awareness and messaging.


Developing editorial guidelines and standards development


  • Work with the BCM team to create editorial guidelines and standards for all content, to ensure it meets high standards (brevity, plain language, user experience) and it is aligned/reflective of the Clifford Chance brand.



What you will do


You will bring a journalistic and proactive approach to managing, planning, aligning, leveraging, and curating of BCM internal and external content. 
You will be responsible for developing content for a wide range of internal and external channels. 
You will work with internal stakeholders to develop impactful, data driven content for a variety of channels to be distributed via our digital channels including our automated content distribution platform.  In developing this content, you will provide advice and expertise around writing for digital channels (e.g. SEO, User experience (UX) testing, Metrics, Web design and development, Social media integration).
As part of the BCM team, you will also support the successful execution of wider team initiatives, such as the delivery of large internal and external campaigns and events.


Your career experience so far




  • Excellent editorial and written communication skills (both digital and non-digital)

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to self-organise, multi-task and meet tight deadlines

  • Ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging copy which is purposed for specific channels 

  • Client-focused, motivated, proactive, forward-thinking, organised, creative and diplomatic 

  • As part of the role, you will work with the most senior leaders of the Firm. You will have the ability to interact with senior management and other business contacts in a professional, confident manner

  • A team player, willing to go the extra mile for both the team's clients and the team itself.




  • Experience of developing and implementing editorial and content management strategies, writing, editing and publishing feature-length articles and short, engaging news stories for print and web essential

  • Planning and management expertise

  • Previous experience as a journalist is advantageous, but not essential




  • Preferably educated to degree level in journalism, communications or English, or with experience working in a related field
