Associate – Financial regulatory

📁
Associate/Assistant
📅
JR-1830 Requisition #

Our Financial Regulatory group is an acknowledged market leader. Our work reflects the dynamism and volatility of today’s financial markets, where competitive edge is built on innovation, foresight and speed of delivery. Matters range from advising on high-level strategic advice, to M&A involving regulated entities, AML matters, product development, licensing, governance and conduct related questions, as well as recovery and resolution planning. We advise global investment banks, private banks, asset managers, exchanges and alternative trading systems, clearing, payment and settlement systems.

Who you will work with

The majority of our work is international. Cross-border deals and cross-border projects are our daily fare.

What you will be responsible for

We work with our clients – global regulated institutions and regulators – at the highest levels, assisting them in the development and implementation of new products and platforms and the assessment of the impact of regulatory change on businesses and models and implementation of new regulations. The insight, innovation and legal creativity which we bring to new financial products, business platforms and regulatory developments is fundamental to the outcome of our clients’ businesses.

Our market-leading experience continues to attract the most complex, challenging and ground-breaking deals to the firm. And this, in turn, has enabled us to attract some of the best and most ambitious lawyers to assist our clients and build one of the market’s leading, and most diverse, practices.

What you will do

You will advise clients on a variety of areas, including on MiFIDII, EMIR, AIFMD, UCITS, MAR, CRDIV, AML, and SFD, in each case as applied in Belgium. You will also advise clients on the Belgian rules relating to distribution and marketing of financial products, product development, and broadly on the Belgian legislative framework for financial services, insurance services and funds.

Your career experience so far

You will be a lawyer with experience and a deep interest in financial regulatory matters. You will have an excellent academic record, complemented by practical experience. You are fluent in English, French and Dutch.

You must have strong research, organisational, drafting and communication skills, and be able to work independently.

You will be approachable and proactive, with a view to providing practical solutions for the firm's leading legal financial services team.

How we will support you

From your first day with us, you will have varied opportunities to continuously grow and develop your skills and knowledge. From formal training, informal coaching and mentoring through to skills-based and technical training and on the job learning.

How to apply

If you wish to apply for this position, please upload your CV, cover letter, official transcripts/scorecards for each year at law school and a copy of your official diploma.
